COLOR CLUB DUPES

If you're part of the nail/beauty community, you will know the most recent craze has been all about holo. Primark has invested big in holo, from bags, purses and makeup bags to tweezers and just general packaging. My little obsession came from only just discovering Simplynailogical. I also got the recommendation from Cristine's channel for Color Club as a brand for good holo nail polishes.
I will be honest, upon receiving all the nail polishes, testing and using them, I have changed my mind about what to blog post to do regarding these. Originally, I was going to be purely seeing if a cheaper holo nail polish can live up to such a brand as Color Club.
Carry on reading to see my results and why I changed this blog post!

COLOR CLUB HALO HUES REVIEW

First of all, I'd like to talk about the two nail polish brands separately. I've never used Color Club before, let alone a holo nail polish. But from Cristine's channel, I knew what to expect and what makes a good holo polish and what doesn't.
The two I purchased are Just My Luck and Eternal Beauty at £9.99 each. They are both linear and very pigmented. It takes just two thin coats to get the opacity perfect for me. I do feel they could be slightly more holo, but that's just my personal preference. The shinier the better. The formula is very easy to apply, but I do wish the brush was thicker as it took a few more than normal strokes to cover my nail. Other than that, they are both such great holos and I would repurchase purely for the amazing range of colours they have.

BORN PRETTY REVIEW

After some researching to see if I could get a cheaper holo to compare against Color Club, some lovely ladies on a Facebook group I'm part of, directed me to eBay. I never thought of checking eBay because I was sure I couldn't find a decent one. But as luck has it, I found this post from a seller called polisholic (I recommend this store!). So, I ordered 5 of them, totalling to just under £13 - a massive difference to the £20 I paid for 2 from Color Club! At first I was apprehensive about these, I think anyone would be.
The first one I tested was #10 the blue one. I was heavily disappointed. There was no coverage and it may have well of been just a top coat. I applied the second coat, and I could immediately tell there was potential. It took 3/4 layers to get the opacity as in my pictures. The others are all the same, however they strangely don't look 'heavy', I certainly couldn't tell there was 4 layers on some of them, so I think it's more to do with the thinness of the formula than the actual opacity, which I was pleased with. The holo itself..you can see for yourself! I personally think they are absolutely incredible for just £2.39 each + free delivery (plus a 10% discount when you buy 3 or more!).
I was, and still am, very impressed with the colour pay off, I don't think the photos on the eBay post give them justice. The photos I took are slightly more to real life (click on them to see them bigger!).
All of the rainbows!

COLOR CLUB DUPES?

As soon as I got all of these polishes mentioned, I immediately noticed the similarity between Born Pretty #1 and CC Just My Luck. Then the similarity between Born Pretty #11 and CC Eternal Beauty. I done a little experiment to see what answers I would get. I showed people the following photo:

Can you tell which costs £2.39 and which costs £9.99?

Because the people I asked couldn't. The majority said they couldn't tell or they thought the £2.39 was the CC photo! I personally love them both and I would be happy with either, it just really interested me.
Here is a side by side of the other dupe, #1. The Born Pretty silver isn't as opaque as the CC one, however I do feel there is more holo going on. I do wonder if just one coat of CC Just My Luck would match up better to Born Pretty's #1.

BORN PRETTY'S EXTRA ADVANTAGE

I spent a good few days testing these and wearing them. I used my normal favourite top coat by Models Own, but I don't feel this was glossy enough for the rainbows (I didn't use a top coat on my photos), it also wasn't great for the longevity for either brands, but that could of been to do with it being a nearly empty bottle.
So, I thought back to when I very first put on a Born Pretty's holo and how disappointed I was. Then, I remembered what I thought at the time, "it may have well of been just a top coat". The next opportunity I got, I slapped on some black nail polish and one coat of Born Pretty holo. (see below for results) I am so impressed this is a 2 in 1! The thinness of the formula did pay off! I love the results and these are still on my fingers as I type.

DIFFERENCE IN PRICE, SMALLER BOTTLE?

I just wanted to add in a little extra about the fact that Born Pretty's polishes are 6ml and CC polishes are 10ml.
Regarding the difference in price and the size of the bottles; I worked out you can buy 24ml (6ml bottles) Born Prettys for just pennies less than the one 10ml CC bottle. With the price of Born Pretty's holos you would have to spend just 3.98 to get the same amount (10ml) as the CC bottles.

What do you think of these holos? Would you purchase them? Or do you only trust bigger brands? Do you think these are good dupes for these two Color Club colours?
Also leave a comment and see if you can guess the brands in the dupe photo!
